Year of the bible
Year of the Bible 2023
We made 2023 “A Year With the Bible”, with more than 30 participants reading through every one of the 66 books in the Bible, reading every word from Genesis through Revelation!
Our One-Year Bible made it easy, providing us with 365 daily readings. Each day we read a segment from the Old Testament, a segment from the New Testament, verses from a Psalm, and a Proverb. Each day’s reading took about 15-20 minutes – Easy!
Our Year With the Bible class met every Monday through the year to discuss highlights of the week’s readings. We discussed issues of interpretation and translation, and focused particular attention on difficult and challenging passages. We also looked at the many myths that have barnacled the Bible over the centuries. Participants were provided with outlines of each week’s reading, as well as other helpful resources, including maps and illustrations.
The class was led by the Rev. Dr. Skip Ferguson, retired PCUSA pastor. We hope to offer another Year With the Bible class in the future; until then, come join our “Bible & More” class, which meets Mondays 7:15 PM – 8:30 PM in the Case Library and via Zoom.
